As you might expect, the closer you get to the slopes, the more expensive the rental. And of course, it’s a lot more expensive during the winter, especially around the holidays.
I once rented a home from Big Bear Vacation Rentals that was roomy and relatively inexpensive, but that home is no longer listed with them. It was in the Moonridge area, which is one of my favorite places to stay.
However, I’ve also stayed at places right at the base of Snow Summit, which just can’t be beat. At the end of a day on the slopes, nothing beats NOT having to take a shuttle or driving. Sure, they’re more expensive, but worth it. Snow Summit Townhouses have various degrees of price and amenities, and can be found at http://www.snowsummittownhouses.com/. You’ll have to call them direct for exact rates. I usually get an “average” or “economy” unit. The Escape Condominiums across the street are also very nice, http://www.bigbearescape.com.
Have fun!
Peace

Get on the Big bear Web page and check out the rentals. That is the only way to go.

you need a house? dunno of any, but we stayed in this really nice B&B last year. It’s called Switzerland house (cept house was spelt strangely) It’s the closest u can get to the slopes- just a walk across a parking lot.
