Best winter vacation? Look for a lodge or cabin.?

Need ideas on winter lodges or cabins in USA. Prefer east coast. Looking for a log cabin or lodge with wood burning fireplace and kitchen to cook breakfast. Romantic. Maybe some shops nearby. Any ideas?

Does it need to be near a ski area?
